Everton vs Liverpool: ‘I can’t take anymore heartbreak’ – Diehard Toffee Tony Bellew praying for Merseyside derby win after TEN YEARS of hurt

Tony Bellew has urged his beloved Everton to end ten years of heartbreak and finally get one over their red rivals Liverpool – just so he can finally ‘tear the back out of a few Kopites’.

Saturday lunchtime’s Merseyside derby is LIVE and EXCLUSIVE on talkSPORT, and there’s bit a bit of a role reversal ahead of this latest clash between the crosstown foes.

Liverpool have dominated this fixture for an entire decade, with 11 wins and 11 draws since Everton’s last victory over the Reds all the way back in 2010.

But, things are different this time around.

Liverpool may be the Premier League champions, but they enter this fixture with their tails firmly between their legs after their 7-2 humbling at Aston Villa a fortnight ago.

Everton, meanwhile, are flying high at the top of the table with four wins from four and an incredible 12 goals scored.

However, form – as they say – goes out the window for these games and the Toffees should beware of the wounded animal, with Jurgen Klopp’s side surely keen to send a message to their rivals after their disaster at Villa Park.

But Bellew says it’s long overdue his beloved club tasted some success against the Reds, admitting he can’t take any more derby despair.

“I can’t take any more, I’ve had my heart broken in this fixture so many times,” Bellew told The Sports Bar on Friday night.

“I can’t remember the last time I had a happiness with this game.

“I’ve felt relief many times at the end of these games, when Jags [ex-captain Phil Jagielka] scored that goal that hit the bar and went in [a late thunderbolt that sealed a 1-1 draw with the Reds at Anfield back in 2014].

“I remember walking out of the Anfield road end with a big smile on my face, walking past Kopites, he just saved us that day.

“I actually walked into Finch Farm on the Monday and grabbed hold of Jags and just hugged him. He was like, ‘what are you doing?!’, he must have had the fright of his life! I grabbed him and hugged him so tight and just said, ‘lad, you saved us’.

“There’s been a couple like that, but I can’t remember the last time I was actually able to rip them, say to them, ‘you got beat by us, you’re clowns, you’re jokes’.

“I just can’t remember the last time, and it’s just not right!

“I need to tear the back out of a few Kopites and make this stick, it needs to go both ways instead of being consistently one way!”

Well, let’s see if the Bomber’s prayers are answered…
