‘Kamp Koral’ First Look: SpongeBob and His Friends Take on Summer Camp

Are ya ready, kids? Well, you better be, because Nickelodeon is teasing their upcoming series taking us back to the early years of our favorite Bikini Bottom residents. We’ve got the first look at a brand new SpongeBob SquarePants series, Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years, a fresh animated spinoff that turns back the clock to follow the beloved characters as kids at a summer camp.

In today’s first look image, which you can check out below, we see a 10-year-old SpongeBob, pictured with his friends Patrick, Sandy, Plankton, Squidward and Mr. Krabs, all at Kamp Koral summer camp. While they look a little younger, it seems like they’re still the same old sea creatures that we’ve come to know and love — SpongeBob and Patrick are as Giddy as ever, Sandy is just as joyful, Plankton looks like he’s cooking up a plan (I spy a chum bucket), and Squidward is sulking in the corner with a clipboard, while Mr. Crabs proudly stands by.

According to the Kamp Koral official description, the series follows the classic crew as they “spend their summer building underwater campfires, catching wild jellyfish, and swimming in Lake Yuckymuck at the craziest camp in the kelp forest, Kamp Koral.”

Without Kamp Koral, SpongeBob would have never met his friends. It’s there that he teams up with Patrick, Sandy and the rest, “where the new friends embark on all the joys of camp, including hunting for treasure, slaplining and more.” The new series brings back all of the voice actors behind the original characters, including Tom Kenny (SpongeBob), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy) and Mr. Lawrence (Plankton). Two new actors, Carlos Alazraqui and Kate Higgins, voice the character Nobby and Narlene, narwhal siblings who live in the woods surrounding the camp.

Kamp Koral, which is the very first SpongeBob spin-off series, is produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio and is set to debut exclusively on Paramount+ streaming service in 2021. After the first season debuts on Paramount+, it will also air on Nickelodeon later the same year.
