Spoilers follow for Season 2 of The Boys.
The Season 2 finale of Amazon Prime’s The Boys ended with several huge questions unanswered, including what is going to happen next in the ongoing saga of Homelander, the de facto leader of The Seven.
While draped in the same kind of patriotic, superheroic livery as Marvel’s Captain America and DC’s Superman, Homelander is a very different kind of character. You know, on account of how he’s an evil asshole who fantasizes about using his powers to murder swathes of innocent people.
And he has a Mini-Me! It’s been known for a while now that Ryan is not actually Billy Butcher’s son, his father is in fact Homelander, and he is the first supe to be born with powers, having inherited some of Homelander’s abilities, including his heat/laser vision. Which begs the question: as Homelander continues down his road towards outright supervillainy, could Ryan, whose powers seem to match those of his dad, be the only person in the world who is able to take him down once and for all?
He’s already proven he has what it takes to go toe-to-toe with some of the baddest supes around, having blasted the hell out of Stormfront. It would certainly be narratively satisfying, for the son of the villain, who has been raised by one of the show’s heroes, to defeat his father and put a stop to his plans. A new video on Screen Rant’s YouTube channel explores how such a confrontation might play out.
