Juventus forward Ronaldo is currently self-isolating after testing positive for coronavirus, and the Portugal legend took to social media to express his confidence that Khabib will have no problems beating Gaethje.

Ronaldo answered on an Instagram live stream: “Of course, of course, Khabib is going to win! “My brother! Inshallah!”

The undefeated Eagle beat Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 in September 2019, but has had a long wait to return to the Octagon.

He was supposed to headline UFC 249 in May but had to pull out due to the complications cause by the COVID-19 lockdown.

Gaethje stepped in at the last minute and claimed a superb win over Tony Ferguson.

And the 31-year-old American is certainly not short of confidence heading into the biggest fight of his career.

“I’m here to ruin Ali’s day, I’m here to ruin Dana White’s day, I’m here to ruin Daniel Cormier’s day, I’m here to ruin Javier Mendes’ day, I’m here to ruin Khabib Nurmagomedov’s day,” Gaethje said. “F*** all those guys.

Khabib and Gaethje are arguably two of the lightweight division’s best fighters at the moment

“They have already got [a plan]. I don’t know what their plan is, but they said they have a plan ahead and I’m going to f— it up.”

“They are going to change my nickname from ‘The Highlight’ to ‘2020,’” Gaethje added.
